Education
Doctor of Philosophy in Computing Science, Faculty of IT, University of Technology, Sydney (UTS), Australia (2003–2006)
Topic: Interactive Systems for Creativity. I investigated the ways that artists express their programming desires, and how those expressions can be translated into code. This understanding is used to design new tools and techniques to support human creativity. I was the recipient of two UTS scholarships: a three-year faculty scholarship, and an ICAN writing-up scholarship
Undergraduate Master of Computer Science, Loughborough University, Leicestershire, UK (1997–2002)
Classification: First Class (Honours)
Focussing on: Standard bachelor’s degree computer science curriculum, plus Virtual Reality, Multimedia Interface Design, Text- and Speech-Based HCI, plus final-year project developing an Internet-resident artwork using Java and OpenGL.
I was a member of the group that won the prize for the best IT project, for an ANSI SQL to Microsoft SQL conversion program. It was called DarkSide.exe.

Community
I am Managing Editor of Leonardo Transactions, a section in the peer-reviewed journal Leonardo that is a fast track to publishing key new developments.
Interests
Currently, I'm learning furniture making, swing dancing and exercise—having finished the PhD, it is time to reconnect with my body! Besides that, I have played the piano for fifteen years, and I love listening to well-made music, particularly modern jazz. My favourite way to socialise is eating out or cooking for friends.
